American Legion Post 38 of Roanoke Rapids and The Dallas Jones Veterans Museum entertained American Legion State Department Officers and a National Vice Commander.
Donuts and coffee were served as the visitors took time to refresh from their trip from Raleigh in the rain. A video was presented by Dallas Jones showing the development of the Museum. Dallas said partnering with American Legion Post 38 and other veterans organizations has had a positive impact on the phenomenal success of the Veterans Museum.
The Museum now has more than 1300 veteran’s photos on the Wall of Honor. They have uniforms and other memorabilia from all branches of the services. They credit a large part of their success to the veterans of the Roanoke Valley. All the veterans unite in their desire to honor and remember the veterans of the past and present and instill a sense of pride to inspire veterans of the future. The Museum has given the families of veterans a better understanding of the experiences of their loved ones.
The staff of the Museum escorts visitors around the museum and gives some of the history of various photos and exhibits. George Willis, CEO of the Museum and Founder Dallas Jones explained some of the activities the Museum is involved in to the guests. Noah Joyner, Post Commander of Post 38 thanks the guests for their informative talk on American Legion recruitment. American Legion Membership applications can be obtained from the Museum or at the American Legion Building on American Legion Road.
