Australian Northern Rosellas and Masked Lapwings have hatched at Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park. The Rosellas are being hand-fed several times a day while the parents are on display at the Park. When these baby parrots are older, they will be displayed at the Park’s planned bird interactive exhibit. The Lapwings, whose diet includes mealworms, and their parents are on view in the Australian Aviary. When these shore birds are fully grown, they can be recognized by a bright yellow “mask” of feathers around their eyes. To view these new hatchings and the other 1,000 birds on display, visit Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park, Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For more information, view the Park’s Web site at http://www.shwpark.com/, or call 252-826-3186.
